Litoměřice, the Garden of Bohemia

The City of Litoměřice is located in the Northern Bohemia region on the Elbe River. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful towns in Czech Republic and is often referred to the “Garden of Bohemia”. Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings have been built within the city walls as 104 of them are listed as cultural monuments presently. It has been given another name, the Black Triangle, due to its long struggle with various structural and environmental problems arising from heavy industrialization back in the 19th and 20th centuries. Since then, Litoměřice has participated and supported actively the Local Agenda 21 scheme and other actions to promote sustainability via public participation.
