The Expo’s theme for this year was “digital-driven intelligent development”. It provided an avenue for European guests from selected H2020 Smart Cities and Communities projects to engage with the Chinese in a series of dialogues on smart solutions and sustainable developmentas well asin a business matchmaking event. The goal was to promote the digital development in China and establish new partnerships in the smart economy sector.

Other than the awarding event, Maarit Vehviläinen from Smart Tampere – representative of Tampere’s municipality in STARDUST – contributed to the panel discussion about the Smart City characteristic models. She explained in detail the Sustainable Tampere roadmap and how STARDUST and Smart Tampere play a role in achieving a smarter and more sustainable world.

The event is an important recognition of the work carried out by STARDUST’s fellow cities and the whole project’s consortium, and of how this work is providing solutions that can be adapted in various cities all over the world.
