The Energy Performance in Buildings Directive (EPBD, Directive 2002/91/EC) is now requiring that all new buildings by 2020 should be “nearly zero energy” in their operation. Its aim is to improve the energy efficiency in buildings and encourage building renovation.

The Nordic countries have constantly worked on implementing energy efficiency solutions in buildings. Led by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, they are launching the 1st Nordic Conference on Zero Emission and Plus Energy Buildings conference on November 6 & 7 at Trondheim as a chance to present state-of-the-art research and practical solutions revolving around this issue so that we can work together in creating a low carbon built environment.
